Save a new map to maploader (Valetudo)

When you change the layout of a room, you need to create and save this new map in Valetudo using maploader. This post assumes that Valetudo and maploader are installed and configured.

  1. Open Valetudo, go to Map and choose Map Pass. Wait until the robot finishes mapping and has returned to the station. (Remember that a new map can only be created when the robot reaches the station.)
  2. A pop-up may appear in Valetudo (“A new map is pending, do you accept”). Accept the new map by choosing Yes.
  3. Open the MQTT Explorer. Connect to your robot. (Check the settings in the Valetudo map > Connectivity).
  4. Publish the payload newmapname to the topic valetudo/pucci/maploader/map/save.
  5. The robot should now publish saving_map in the topic valetudo/pucci/maploader/status. After some time, it should publish idle.
  6. In Valetudo > Map > Segment Management, you can create segments. Do not forget to save the map after changes to the segments.
